Contra Costa Labor Council:

who we are:

Since 1959, the Contra Costa Labor Council has been centered on ensuring all working people are treated fairly, with decent paychecks and benefits, safe jobs, dignity, and equal opportunities. We help people acquire valuable skills and job-readiness for the 21st century economy. We help make safe, equitable workplaces and give working people a collective voice to address workplace injustices without the fear of retaliation. We fight for social and economic justice and strive to vanquish oppression in all its forms.

Our Mission:

The Contra Costa Labor Council  is the local body of the AFL-CIO and was chartered in 1959 to be the coordinating regional body for labor cooperation and unity. We are a membership organization serving as a coalition of the Labor Community in Contra Costa County. Over 85 unions are affiliated with the CCLC, representing more than 80,000 union members and their families.

The mission of the Contra Costa Labor Council is to improve the lives of workers, their families, and our community – to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to the nation.

We accomplish this mission by working to build worker power through political education and action, economic development, union organizing, community service and training programs, and educational programs for the community.
